Mr. Mavindu Muthoka is a doctoral student in the Animal and Fishery Sciences department. He earned a Master of Science in Aquatic Science and a Bachelor of Science in Zoology and Botany, both from Maseno University in Kenya.
His professional mission is to do transformative and demand-driven research in the fields of fisheries, aquaculture, and other associated value chains in order to enhance the food security and nutritional status of rural households. Muthoka has great interest in climate-smart aquaculture technologies, agro-ecological practises, regenerative agriculture-aquaculture, and climate change.
He is skilled in writing research outputs such as reports, conference proceedings, policy briefs, grant submissions, and journal articles.
His current research is on ‘how various agroecological practices (integrated aqua-agriculture, regenerative aquaculture, biofloc systems) impact total aquaculture production in Kenya.
