Dr. Erick Ogello earned his Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Fisheries Science in 2017 at Nagasaki University Japan. He obtained Master of Science Degree in Aquaculture (Great Distinction) in 2013 at Ghent University, Belgium, and Bachelor of Science Degree in Fisheries (First Class Honors) at Moi University, Kenya. Dr. Ogello has previously worked as research scientist at Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) for 8 years, where he served as director of Kegati and Sangoro research centers, and was also a member of Kenya national Aquaculture Working Group (AWG) committee in 2010-2013 during Economic Stimulus Project (ESP).
Dr. Ogello joined the School of Agriculture and Food Security, Department of Fisheries and Natural Resources, Maseno University in 2019. He has received two international scholarship awards i.e. VLIRUOS and MONBUKAGAKUSHO for his MSc. And PhD studies in Belgium and Japan, respectively. His research interests include; fisheries science, aquaculture, aquatic ecology and toxicology. Dr. Ogello has published 41 scholarly articles in peer reviewed international journals, and participated in several local and international conferences. He is currently conducting research studies to establish low-cost and efficient fish culture techniques to improve tropical aquaculture.
